Relief for refugees in the Middle East

More than a million people in the Middle East have fled. They left everything behind in search of a safe place. There is a great need for food, shelter, medical care and clothing. Therefore ZOA, together with six Christian partner organisations in the Netherlands united in a cluster, is taking action to help the refugees.

Besides ZOA, Christian relief organisations Tearfund and Dorcas have been working in Lebanon and Syria for years. Together, along with local Christian partners and churches, they provide relief for the people who have been displaced and offer them humanitarian aid.

The support consists of food, blankets, mattresses and basic items such as soap and diapers. The aid is offered in collective centres where displaced people gather and existing community centres. In addition, the organisations offer a listening ear and provide psychosocial and mental health care to people who have ended up in a traumatic situation due to recent events. The need is increasing and is far from over.

Prayer

Donations towards this relief aid are desperately needed. Furthermore, prayer is essential. ZOA asks for prayer for the victims, the survivors and aid workers, but also for the countries and their leaders. As all members of the Christian relief cluster in the Netherlands, ZOA believes that peace and reconciliation are the only way out of this situation and that this can only happen through the work of Jesus Christ.

ZOA is part of the alliance of Christian relief organisations in the Netherlands (Christelijk Noodhulpcluster). The alliance is formed by Dorcas, EO Metterdaad, MAF, Red een Kind, Tearfund, Woord en Daad and ZOA. In the event of a major disaster, we quickly take joint action with a relief aid campaign. In this way, we ensure that our aid is as effective as possible.
