Fast, flexible and accessible
The paper Making digital cash assistance work in Gaza shares ZOA’s approach, key findings and lessons learned from delivering digital cash assistance in this highly challenging context. The experience shows that support can be transferred remotely, safely and at scale: 99.5% of transfers were successfully completed, while most recipients used the money digitally to buy essential goods and services from local vendors.
The paper also highlights important lessons for future cash programming, including the need for strong monitoring, accessible support for people who face barriers to digital systems, clear communication and assistance that is flexible enough to respond to changing needs.
