Support to farmers on best agriculture practices and access to market

This project aims to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for youth and women through best agriculture practices and access to market with environmentally friendly solutions. The project is implemented in Sinjar, Tel Afar, and Hawija Districts, from April to November 2023.

Project activities

  • 150 women will have skills development in food processing, business skills, and value chain development, enabling them to start successful fruit and vegetable drying enterprises.
  • 56 people will have on-the-job carpentry training and provision of toolkits, enabling them to start successful small carpentry enterprises.
  • 10 entrepreneurial people will have their entrepreneurial capabilities developed through a 10-day bootcamp, three of whom will receive funding to pursue their business goals.
  • 20 successful farmers will have access to technical support and financing to pilot an environmentally friendly business concept.

People interested in taking part in the project can register their interest via the form below. Registrations are accepted on a rolling basis.

This registration form is to register interest in participating in a 2 week online entrepreneurship training course offered by a UNDP, in partnership with ZOA. The training will focus on skills for entrepreneurs in the fields of agribusiness and food processing. It will cover topics such as developing business strategy, marketing, business planning, and financial management. This is offered under the ‘Support to Farmers on Best Agriculture Practices and Access to Market with Environmentally Friendly Solutions’ project, which is funded by the Government of Canada.

Selected participants will received 8 days of online training in advanced business entrepreneurship. They will have costs covered for a trip to Erbil for business idea competition, where their business ideas will be assessed by a panel of experts. Up to three winning business ideas will be selected for funding under the project. Winners will receive technical support to develop their business idea.

    • Two day business planning support and business presentation event in Erbil
    • Funding for up to three winning business ideas
    • Coaching support

    Registrations on this form will be assessed, and the top 10 candidates selected for the training. Selected candidates will be contacted directly. Candidates who are not selected will not be notified.
