“The board is pleased to have found Chris Lukkien to assume leadership of this organization,” says Harry Paul, chairman of the Supervisory Board. “Chris has extensive experience in relief and recovery and a clear and strong vision on the future and identity of ZOA. We are confident that we found in him a leader who can take ZOA forward in the coming years.”
Chris Lukkien worked with ZOA as Regional Director for Africa. He continued his career at MAF and has served with them for the last twenty 20 years in a variety of roles including Tanzania Programme Director. Since 2009 he has been CEO of MAF International, based in the UK. During this time he oversaw the integration of two large MAF operational entities into one organization, including the creation of a new executive leadership team and management structure. Prior to this role, he served as CEO of MAF Europe. Since 2010 Lukkien has served as vice-chair and member of the International Board of Trustees of Medair.
“I’m looking forward to start leading ZOA,” Lukkien says. “It’s my desire to contribute to ZOA’s mandate of giving relief, hope and recovery to those in need. It’s my mission to serve God and my fellow man. Therefore I see it as a privilege to be able to take on the role of CEO at ZOA.”
Chris Lukkien will lead ZOA together with Arco van Wessel (CPO). Interim director Derk Vermeer, who took office in June 2016, will hand over his responsibilities to Lukkien early May this year.
